The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 can produce 1,200 pounds of downforce without active aerodynamics.  Corvette engineers couldn’t find any performance benefits with an active aero system on the ZR1.  The optional ZTK package adds a massive rear wing, front dive planes, and a Gurney lip on the hood for maximum downforce.   The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is an American supercar that competes with its European contemporaries in a very old-school way. Unlike many high-end performance cars today, the ZR1 lacks active aerodynamics. Every canard, spoiler, and wing are fixed in place, and the Corvette can produce 1,200 pounds of downforce…

The Subaru Crosstrek is one of the best-selling vehicles in America—and for good reason. The subcompact crossover combines good looks with a solid driving experience, ample technology, and a reasonable price tag. For 2025, it does get slightly pricier, but it still stays well under the $30,000 mark. The base 2025 Subaru Crosstrek costs $27,115 with destination. That gets you a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter boxer engine with 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. Move up to the Crosstrek Premium model for $28,365, and that unlocks a more powerful 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 182 hp. The Crosstrek Sport costs $30,915,…

Volkswagen just announced pricing for the updated 2025 Taos crossover. Base price rises by $1,000, but one trim is cheaper than it was last year. It remains one of VW’s most affordable cars. A month ago, Volkswagen revealed the updated 2025 Taos, its Golf-based crossover for North America. There aren’t a ton of radical changes for the car, most notably a boost in power, a refreshed interior, and a new transmission. Unsurprisingly, it’s not too much more expensive than its immediate predecessor, and for one trim, actually a little cheaper. Pricing starts at $26,420 for the front-wheel drive Taos S,…

BMW has been dipping its toes into the (almost) lost art of coachbuilding. In 2022, it revived the “Batmobile” with a special 3.0 CSL of which 50 cars were made on the M4 chassis. Last year, it brought back the “Clownshoe” with a shooting brake based on the Z4 M40i roadster but that sadly didn’t make it to production. A few months ago, it unveiled the gorgeous Skytop, an 8 Series with a targa top. Now, the German luxury brand is confirming plans to put the Skytop into production, albeit the vehicle will have a limited run. Only 50 units…

Ah, just what we needed. Yet another SUV. I’ve always thought of Alpine as being the French equivalent of Lotus since they’ve focused on lightweight sports cars. Much like the peeps from Norfolk now have an electric SUV with the Eletre, the boys and girls based in Dieppe are introducing this–the A390_β. It’s only a concept at this stage but a production version will follow next year. Just like Ferrari is refusing to call the Purosangue an SUV, Alpine doesn’t use the acronym. Instead, it’s a “sport fastback.” The sloping roofline gives the impression of an SUV that had an…

From the mid-2000s into the 2010s, no one made cooler cars than Aston Martin. Beautiful to behold, wonderful to listen to, and great to drive. But, the company fell into a malaise. The lineup got stale, and when Aston finally brought out new models, like the DB11 and second-generation Vantage, none lived up to its predecessors. Finally, Aston Martin appears to be righting the ship, and the new Vantage is proof. The last Vantage appealed mainly because of the winged badge on the hood; This new one obviously still has the infamous badge, but also a hell of a lot…

To say Stellantis is in dire straits would be an understatement. Sales are plummeting so sharply in the United States that dealers are accusing Carlos Tavares of the “rapid degradation” of the American brands. In an open letter sent to the CEO, the US Stellantis National Dealer Council warned that the automotive conglomerate is facing a “disaster.” We’re now learning the big boss will step down, but not until early 2026. Tavares is the first and only CEO of Stellantis, appointed as the head honcho after the PSA Group merged with Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles in 2021. His five-year contract expires at…

Tesla just showed off the first glimpses of its fully autonomous “Robotaxi.” The car, a two-door coupe with butterfly doors called the Cybercab, was revealed on Thursday night during a presentation held by the brand in Hollywood. Like the name, the Cybercab borrows its front end from the bigger Cybertruck, but it’s far smaller and shaped more aerodynamically, with just two seats. There is no steering wheel and no pedals, just a big giant screen in the middle of the dashboard. Tesla CEO Elon Musk did not reveal any performance or range estimates for the Cybercab, but said it will…

Tesla, as it does every so often, revealed a bunch of allegedly autonomous stuff at its “We, Robot” event last night in Los Angeles. Here’s everything CEO Elon Musk trotted out, and when he said you should expect to see them. Cybercab First up is the Cybercab, a two-door coupe robotaxi that Tesla billed as “premium point-to-point transportation”—or, as Musk put it, “individualized mass transit.” This vehicle has a claimed running cost of 20 cents per mile or “30 to 40 cents a mile” if you account for the purchase price, including taxes. Musk said he “expects the cost to…
