Americans love their big SUVs. The spacious interiors and cavernous cargo areas give families everything they need for the chaos of everyday life. With that in mind, Ford is readying a major update for the Expedition that should freshen it up in the highly competitive market. The company has been testing the updated three-row SUV for over a year, and it’s slated to debut on October 3. The 2025 Expedition won’t be a full ground-up redesign, though. The three-row will get extensive interior and exterior updates while riding on the same platform and likely using the same powertrain lineup—with an…
Sasquatch packages can be fitted on the Outer Banks or Badlands models Sasquatches add Bilstein shocks, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and other off-road accessories Every 2025 Bronco Sport comes with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen To mythologists, the Sasquatch is a large bi-pedal primate lurking in North American forests. To Ford, the Sasquatch is an off-road package meant to track down or become this legend, through dell and dale. This year, the package migrates from the big-footed Bronco into the smaller track of the 2025 Bronco Sport. It’s not a like-for-like upgrade between the two distinctly different…
Hyundai will introduce a round of updates to its Santa Cruz compact pickup truck for the 2025 model year. Unveiled on Wednesday at the 2024 New York auto show, the 2025 Santa Cruz benefits from revised styling, a new dashboard design, added safety and convenience technologies, and extra capability for the rugged XRT grade. Hyundai said its designers wanted to give the Santa Cruz a bolder look, and this has resulted in a new front end with a grille and fascia that make the vehicle appear wider than before. New designs also for the daytime running lights and wheel patterns…
You probably think the ultimate Porsche Cayman is the GT4 RS, the 911 GT3-powered maniac with 493 horsepower that revs to 9,000 rpm and transforms the Cayman into a track beast. But there’s another level of GT4 RS, the Manthey. It sacrifices any on-road comfort the GT4 RS may have had in pursuit of lap times. Manthey Racing isn’t quite a household name. The German race team, founded in the late 1990s, runs Porsche Motorsport’s GT teams and does so successfully. In 2013, Porsche bought a controlling interest in Manthey, and since 2021 it’s been creating aggressive performance kits for…
The starting grid is full of heavy hitters. Dekon Monzas, Greenwood Corvettes, Porsche 935s. High-power, high-dollar vintage race cars, the fastest of their era. I’m right in the middle of the pack in a 1981 BMW M1 Group 4 car, right behind Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing. Opportunities to go up against the head of one of the world’s great race teams don’t come along often, no matter the venue. The Peter Gregg class at the 2024 Monterey Motorsports Reunion hosts cars built from 1973 to 1981 that raced in IMSA GT, GTX, AAGT, GTU, and FIA. It’s a…
Phone in pocket, I step into the sleek-looking Volvo EX90 EV, and as I approach this three-row SUV the driver door unlocks, the seat motors to the correct position and the mirrors and steering wheel find their prescribed sweet spots. Favorites and climate settings recalibrate. OK, full confession: That’s how it’s supposed to work. The reality, I must confess, is that my first time stepping into the EX90 I spent around 10 minutes navigating a labyrinth of different screen settings. Each time my drive partner and I changed position, we had to go through the same thing. Much like Tesla,…
Kia on Wednesday unveiled the 2025 K4 compact sedan at the 2024 New York auto show. The handsome four-door is set to replace Kia’s current option in the segment, the Forte, when it reaches showrooms in the second half of the year. Pricing information to be released closer to that on-sale date. K4 is a new name for the U.S. market, but it was previously used on a compact sedan Kia sold exclusively in China. The current Forte is sold outside the U.S. as a K3, but Kia recently introduced a separate compact sedan called the K3 aimed at developing…
Watch John Hennessey, Mate Rimac, and Christian von Koenigsegg drive each other’s cars. The three walk away impressed by their competitors. Rimac and Koenigsegg talk about physics while in a Nevera. Koenigsegg, Rimac, and Hennessey are big names in the hypercar arena. The companies make cars that push the boundaries of engineering and physics, and it’s not often we see their CEOs behind the wheel of their competitors, but Top Gear magazine assembled the three bosses and three of their cars at Sonoma Raceway to see what each thought of the other’s cars. The three vehicles—Hennessy Venom F5 Revolution, Rimac Nevera, and…
There’s nothing like a Porsche Panamera. It splits the difference between large luxury flagship, lithe sports sedan, and grand tourer. All 15 years it’s been on sale, the Panamera’s done an admirable job balancing its various tasks, and this new third-generation model is the best one yet. Beyond new sheet metal, there’s a reworked interior and new infotainment system, a fully digital gauge cluster, and a simplified center console. Both twin-turbo V-6 and V-8 engine options carry over, tweaked to meet Europe’s newest emissions regulations. Hybrid models get a larger battery and more-powerful electric motor. Active suspension is optional on…
2005 Volvo T6 Roadster Concept Engine Twin-Turbocharged 3.0-Liter V-6 Output 300 Horsepower Transmission Five-Speed Automatic Drive Type Rear-Wheel Drive Twenty years ago, a very unique Volvo concept debuted at the 2005 SEMA Show: The T6 Roadster. Even though it was on the automaker’s official stand, the company had no hand in its conception. It was designed and hand-built by former Volvo employee Leif Tufvesson in his garage, who started the project in 1998 by piecing together parts from various Volvo models and his own homemade hardware. It was his vision for a Swedish hot rod. This is Concept We Forgot,…
