Modern cars are so safe, and regulations have become so strict, that few get genuinely awful crash ratings. So, when that rare new car emerges with a zero-star safety rating, it can be pretty alarming. Unfortunately for any Brazilian customer living with a Citroen Aircross, it failed to muster a single star during Latin NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) evaluation. The video is both terrifying and hilarious. In Brazil, the Citroen Aircross starts at 115,990 real, which roughly equates to $19,945. So it’s cheap, but not remarkably so. Comparatively, the Nissan Versa starts at $17,820 in the U.S., received good…

Three years ago, Hyundai shared a vision of what a big, electric SUV with the Ioniq 5’s design language could be. Originally called the Ioniq 7, that vehicle will hit showrooms next spring as the Ioniq 9. Tonight, Hyundai pulled the cover off the final product. The overall proportions haven’t changed much in the transition to production. Hyundai’s largest electric SUV remains shaped like an aerodynamic box, but many of the finer design details have evolved over the past three years. The front end vaguely echoes the Ioniq 5‘s with square-shaped individual LEDs that create a distinctive look inspired by…

With Tesla scrapping its plan to build a $25,000 passenger car for a fully autonomous robotaxi, the dream of an affordable electric vehicle for the everyman looks grim. Don’t expect Lucid to build one, either, as mass-producing such a car is just too expensive for a small company. However, Lucid’s CEO Peter Rawlinson says that an affordable EV with decent range is still possible by licensing its battery and electric motor technology to other brands. During a recent Wall Street Journal podcast episode, Rawlinson discussed the potential for licensing Lucid’s tech to more established legacy automakers so they can build…

GM’s Performance Data Recorder is a neat track-driving data analysis system offered in several of the company’s high-performance vehicles. It’s primarily for enthusiasts to analyze and share their driving exploits, but it also doubles as a sneaky dashcam to catch valet parking attendants or shop mechanics doing silly things when they think no one is watching. I recently experienced the new, enhanced version of the PDR in the 2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, and it felt like something straight out of Gran Turismo. First, a little history lesson: the PDR was launched in 2014 in the C7 Corvette after Cosworth patented…

Given Cadillac’s original goal of becoming an all-electric brand by 2030, we should presume Vivian’s one heck of a salesperson to get GM’s management to green light even a small engineering budget for…
