Aston Martin is in desperate need of a flagship. The DB12 and the Vantage are great cars with lots of style, but they don’t exactly have the same vibes as Astons past. Their borrowed V-8 engines aren’t nearly as awe-inspiring as Aston’s iconic V-12s.  Enter the new Vanquish. The Vanquish you see here isn’t the mid-engine, V-6 hybrid-powered marvel promised by Aston in 2019, but rather, a front-engine two-seater powered by a twin-turbo V-12 designed in-house, complete with striking carbon-fiber bodywork, and gobs of speed and grip. On paper, it sounds like a fitting bearer of the Vanquish name. And…

Aston Martin presented the DBS Superleggera in 2018, which feels like a generation ago in the automotive timeline. Technology has evolved since, yet the 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish unveiled in 2024 as the DBS Superleggera’s successor mostly shrugs it off. It’s a little old-school, and it’s better for it. In an era when nameplates often sound like they were spat out of a random-name generator, Aston Martin resurrects the Vanquish moniker last used in 2018. The new model replaces the DBS Superleggera, which replaced the second-generation Vanquish, which replaced the DBS, which replaced the first-generation Vanquish…notice a pattern? It doesn’t…

A study from AAA shows vast improvements in frontal auto emergency braking systems. New vehicles are twice as likely to avoid collisions versus those from six years ago. At speeds below 35 mph, new vehicles scored 100 percent for collision avoidance. Modern safety tech isn’t foolproof by any means, but things are getting better. That’s the conclusion from AAA, which recently shared the results of a study into automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems. Compared to just six years ago, new vehicles are twice as likely to avoid a frontal collision in an avoidable situation. In fact, it’s such an improvement…

Subaru’s Group A rally cars of the 1990s and 2000s are things of legend. The likes of Colin McRae and Richard Burns used these cars to put Subaru on the map in Europe, cementing the brand as a loose-surface icon in the process. Only a handful of these Prodrive-built Imprezas exist, and this one’s for sale. According to the car’s listing on RaceCarsDirect.com, this GC8-bodied Impreza was used as McRae’s test car from 1993 to 1996. After its time in the spotlight, it was sold to a private driver, before being treated to a full restoration in 2020. The engine has…

The first-generation BMW M5 is one of the coolest sedans on the planet. Released in the mid-1980s, it combined stately looks with a comfortable interior and a motorsport-derived straight-six engine that sounded incredible. Even 40 years later, it remains a car to aspire to. The AutoTopNL YouTube channel got the chance to take an E28-generation M5 onto the speed-limitless Autobahn highway in Germany, giving us a first-hand look at how the four-door supercar can handle high-speed runs after decades on the road.  Surprising to no one, this M5 can still hang with (and easily surpass) modern traffic on the Autobahn.…

As Scout Motors revealed its new concept Terra truck and Traveler SUV on Thursday, the brand also confirmed its intentions to do away with traditional dealerships and sell vehicles directly to consumers. In a workshop briefing after the big concept presentation, I got to see some mockups and projections for what Scout’s physical stores might look like. One idea really raised my eyebrow: Making the service bays and customer waiting room the same space. No, really: Imagine trucks up on lifts getting worked on right next to the couches and coffee makers where customers are milling around waiting for their…

The new Scout Motors brand has been busy building its business infrastructure and a colossal American manufacturing facility. But yesterday, the return of Scout started to feel a lot more real as two fleshed-out concept designs were presented at a blowout launch party in Tennessee. I watched the reveal standing shoulder to shoulder with other off-road enthusiast writers, dudes in the classic Scout restoration business, and even one gentleman who worked on Scout designs in the 1970s. They were pretty unanimously impressed. I liked what I saw too, but it still wasn’t quite enough to get me jump-for-joy excited about…

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Goldfinger is a one-off build from Rolls-Royce Bespoke. It’s an homage to the 1964 James Bond movie Goldfinger. It took three years to build and comes with a gold bar in the center console. Rolls-Royce doesn’t shy away from interesting one-off projects, as evidenced by this two-tone Phantom. It bears a striking resemblance to the 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III featured in the James Bond movie Goldfinger, and that’s certainly no accident. This new model—appropriately called Phantom Goldfinger—is a rolling homage to the classic 1964 film. And the attention to detail goes way beyond a matching paint job.…

The Brabus Rocket GTS is a shooting brake based on a Mercedes-AMG SL63 Roadster. Brabus replaces the entire body with a new one made from carbon fiber. The hybrid powertrain engine is heavily modified, generating a combined 985 horsepower. We’ve seen many wild creations from Brabus over the years, but none have been like this. Beneath those flared fenders and acres of menacing carbon fiber is a Mercedes-AMG SL63 S E Performance, punched up to 986 horsepower. If you’re wondering when Mercedes built a long-roof SL shooting brake, don’t waste your time. This is entirely a Brabus affair. And what…
